A light-hearted lesson on VD...

“>Well, I’m up and it’s Valentine’s Day.  While I’ve never been a big VD fan, it still does sit a little sour in the stomach this year,  you know, being alone & drunk (for the 2nd time today) and all.   As most of you know, I have been going through somewhat of a late-20s crisis.  Despite this being a very public forum, I feel comfortable saying “most of you”, because the only people I can make read this sh*t are my closest friends and family…

Whiiiich, actually brings me to one of the points I would like to make:  If you are one of my closest friends or family, you know me…I know you.  Everyone from my past has helped me grow, and helped shape me into the person I am today, so basically:  You people made me this way so you better just deal with it.

Anyway, “Drunk me” would like to share some of the VD appropriate quotes that I’ve come across and kept in an ever-growing word .doc for inspiration (some are repeats…but are actually in a very particular order):

Good friends stab you in the front.

The man who strikes first admits that his ideas have given out -Chinese Proverb

Wit is a dangerous weapon, even to the possessor, if he knows not how to use it discreetly.  Michel de Montaigne

Women sometimes forgive a man who forces the opportunity, but never a man who misses one. — Charles De Talleyrand-Perigord

The most important trip you may take in life is meeting people halfway.  ~Henry Boye

Absence diminishes mediocre passions and increases great ones, as the wind extinguishes candles and fans fires.  -Francois de La Rochefoucauld

Jealousy is invariably a symptom of neurotic insecurity. — Robert A. Heinlein, Notebooks of Lazarus

Age doesn’t always bring wisdom. Sometimes age comes alone.

There is always one more son-of-a-bitch than you counted on.

Love does not consist in gazing at each other, but in looking together in the same direction. — Antoine de Saint-Exupéry

Nothing fixes a thing so intensely in the memory as the wish to forget it.  Michel de Montaigne

A witty saying proves nothing. — Voltaire

Lesson Learned:

Ultimately…even though the opposite of what you think you wanted to happen…happened.  It’s just jesus’s way of saying he still thinks you’re interesting enough to keep f*cking with.

So, CHEERS!!!  Here’s to being interesting!!   xoxoxox

Ok…I’m going to bed.  Happy VD :)

sorry for a late VDay pessimistic rant but men who buy flowers have no imagination and their women should know better…… i once had a girlfriend who turned up out of the blue on my doorstep with a 4 pack of stella artois… i have never forgotten that girl…….
