DWM: Driving While Mexican...The New DWI, and Just as Likely.

Facebook fight!!:  Yo.  My dad came over here as a refugee during the war.  He (like most refugees) had mixed feelings towards Americans at the time due to his limited perspective, yet, he still followed the laws because he was scared of the law.  He embraced the opportunity to receive an education that was not available at all in Vietnam at the time.

America offered him a future, if you want to be dramatic.  And why shouldn’t we be? My dad is fucking smart.  He didn’t speak or understand any English--but he learned and adapted.   He graduated from Colorado State--the only class he didn’t make a good grade in was SWIMMING- AND he met my mother. The end.

So, pretty much--I am the American dream.  And guess what?

I pay my taxes. I carry my license and I would willingly produce my passport if I was suspected of breaking the law -- or for being a Mexican: and guess what?  They both happen.

A lot.

Round two:

I was placed in an ESL (English as a second language) class in 2nd grade. Umm…I was born in Dallas, and my mom is a Yankee—I have zero accent.  Probably because I don’t speak Vietnamese or Spanish. (Unfortunately, my dad wanted to learn English so bad, that he wouldn’t teach us Vietnamese because he saw it as a disadvantage and I am not Mexican.)

The only thing I knew at the time was that I got to be in an extra school play, which to a 2nd grader is the coolest thing ever.  And my mom knew I was pumped about it -- so why would she throw a fit? Can you imagine how much that would have affected me to see my white mother -- make a big deal about it?

I suspect it would have made me more aware of people’s skin color or accents…counter-productive, eh?

So, my problem with these illegal-loving hippies, is what they fail to see.  It’s not the skin color, or the nationality; it’s the principle.

It is illegal to be in any country without identification. For instance: if JUSTIN (sorry you’re whiter than me…) Went to England…and was standing on the corner “looking for work” OR more realistically, at the hospital about to give birth, with no insurance, no identification and no money, they’d ask him for his ID, pick up on the fact that he’s a Yank and get Obama on the phone to come get his mooch a$$ out of their country.

And THEN, even better, Hollywood would want to film a reality show about him!! And he’d be filthy rich off of the idiocy of Middle America, just like the rest of the worthless dbags on TV.

The new American Dream:  Average.  Because hey, if you can’t hang with them, drag ’em down.

Has no one seen Bourne Identity? Brokedown Palace? Why is it scary to break the law in other countries?

I will never smuggle drugs in Cambodia..because I don’t want a roach to get in my ear.

Also, I feel like I should bring up the fact that people constantly ask me IN Spanish, if I speak Spanish.

Me: Well, I suppose I speak enough to understand what you just asked, but NO.  I’m sorry, but I don’t.

Do I throw a fit? No.

They profile me up and down.  Whoopdee doo. It’s a logical assumption; especially if I’m around Mexicans (which is pretty much all the time, because they’re EVERYWHERE).

So what?

I give them a dirty look and get on with my freaking day.

Nothing we can do will stop immigrants from coming over illegally, but we can deter them with stricter consequences, and ideally, ENTICE them to do things properly.  How bout we get off our moral high-horses, and “pretend” that not all men are created equal?  (Because we’re not?…) I mean, let’s face it:  Some men are better and some, are ahhh…well, hardly men at all.  Some people were born here, some weren’t.  We can’t all be everything all at once.

Quit with the whine-bagging spiel of “Everyone who moves to America wants a new/better life.”  Well, no shit, Captain Obvious.

And yes, we should protect the “undocumented worker” from being preyed upon, but we need not exalt them. Especially via Al- Sharpton.  Mr. Viva!let’s-waste-more-tax-dollars –by-getting-a-group-together-to-be-thrown-in-jail-type of bullsh*t .

Regular kind of Odyssey of the Mind type of mentality, there…Idiot.

Americans need to stop feeling guilty for being dealt a better hand and we should probably focus on improving ourselves first.

Solution:

Get to know your fellow Americans, neighbors, gaybors, amigos, whatev.  Walk around, be aware of your surroundings, yada yada…and MAYBE, you won’t wake up one day, to find out that some pedophile sociopath has been keeping the world’s next Jaycee Duggard in a freaking shed in his backyard, 4 houses down from you.

And maybe, you WILL wake up one day, and realize that you have great neighbors.

Here are 7 signs you have great neighbors…

They call you when they:

• see your house on fire;
• have extra pie;
• see a bbq grill out on the front porch;
• smell weed;
• smell steak;
• want to play beer pong; or
• are curious about why there is a different car in your driveway every night of the week.

If you answered ‘yes’ to 2 or more of the above:  You probably shouldn’t kidnap anyone or smuggle illegal immigrants.

Unrelated-ish:

Illegal immigration is similar to people sneaking into a movie theater and then they talk and giggle the whole time and you really want to say:

“shut the eff UP – we saw you come in, and it’s not that big a deal, IF you sit quietly.  BUT, you’re lucky that we’d rather not be bothered to call in management to kick your punk asses out.  The LEAST you could do is be respectful and let us watch the movie that WE paid for in peace.”
